Subjects
Literacy and Numeracy: we place great emphasis on literacy and numeracy to support students in GCSE English and Maths in school. All students will study an aspect of literacy and numeracy each day they are with us.

In literacy, we focus on developing the students’ skills in reading and writing. Work supports the developing of fluency and accuracy at reading, as well as supporting the retrieval of information from the text. Students are provided with tasks which encourage them to write for different purposes and aid their understanding of writing features.

Numeracy supports our students by helping them become fluent in the fundamentals of mathematics, including through varied and frequent practise, so that students develop conceptual understanding and the ability to recall and apply knowledge with increasing speed and accuracy.
To combine both literacy and numeracy skills we teach Business Enterprise as a vehicle for securing improvement in literacy (particularly oracy and writing), numeracy, thinking skills, developing aspects of personal and social education – in addition to improving student’s independent learning skills.
